The BDO Wave 2026 ACCA Traineeship in Cape Town offers a structured 3-year training contract designed to equip aspiring Chartered Certified Accountants with the practical experience and professional competencies required for ACCA registration. Starting in January 2026, successful candidates will join the BDO Wave Audit division, gaining exposure across a wide range of commercial sectors. The programme combines hands-on audit work, administrative responsibilities, and dedicated study support, including paid study leave and covered tuition for ACCA exams. Trainees will develop technical expertise, professional judgement, and communication skills while contributing to high-quality client service in a dynamic audit environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of audits from planning through to completion
• Support planning activities by preparing audit documentation and contributing to risk assessments
• Perform audit procedures across financial statement areas including payroll, revenue, expenses, and PPE
• Evaluate evidence and document findings to assess risks of material misstatement
• Escalate issues and assist in resolving audit queries
• Contribute to completion procedures including analytical reviews and drafting audit reports
• Link audit findings to business risks and industry context to develop professional judgement
• Complete monthly feedback forms and update skills reviews in the Learning & Training System
• Prepare and deliver presentations to build professional communication skills
• Progress towards ACCA qualification with structured mentorship and study support
• Apply theoretical ACCA knowledge in audit engagements to strengthen technical ability

Qualifications

• ACCA accredited degree from an approved university with auditing as a major subject, preferably completed in 2024 or 2025
• Keen willingness to learn and contribute energy to the audit team
• Ability to manage stress and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
